Who Is This For?

What are common major life transitions?

Life transitions are periods of significant change that can affect your routines, relationships, identity, responsibilities, and sense of stability. Some transitions are planned and exciting, while others happen unexpectedly or involve circumstances outside of your control.

Even when a change is positive or something you've been looking forward to, it can bring complicated emotions. You may feel excited and anxious at the same time, or hopeful while also grieving what you're leaving behind.

Common life transitions include:

  • Becoming a parent or experiencing an empty nest
  • Breakups, divorce, or changes in relationship status
  • Career changes, job loss, or retirement
  • Coming out or embracing new identity
  • Moving or starting a new chapter
  • You don’t need a diagnosis to seek help. If you’re struggling with emotional regulation, intense interpersonal relationships, identity confusion, or long-term behavioral patterns that are hard to change, therapy can be a meaningful place to start.

How can we help with difficult life transitions?

You don't have to figure everything out at once. Therapy during a major life transition can provide a place to pause, reflect, and understand what this change means for you.

Our clinicians create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore both the practical and emotional sides of change. Together, we can help you:

  • Build confidence in your ability to adapt and thrive.
  • Develop tools to manage stress and uncertainty.
  • Navigate identity shifts.
  • Process complex emotions.
  • Strengthen relationships and support systems.
  • You don't have to wait until you're in crisis to seek therapy.

Sometimes counselling is simply a space to make sense of a major change before it becomes overwhelming. It can help you understand what you're feeling, identify what matters most, and make intentional decisions about what comes next.

Life transitions can be difficult, but they can also create opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and meaningful change.
